that it was the best depiction of masculinity he had ever seen.
I hope Kathryn Bigelow becomes the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director.
Earlier: The only three women ever to have been nominated for that award.

Found a whole stack of Sotheby's and Christie's contemporary art auction books for $1/each.
They're the most beautiful catalogs I've ever seen.
UPDATE: Last night, A.K. was flipping through one and he found the actual, corresponding sale price sheet! It's amazing what art went for in 1989.
